favorite things: Foyle's War

A few months ago, some friends told me about a BBC series they had been watching called Foyle's War.  I checked out the first couple of episodes from the library and was immediately hooked!

Set in World War II England, each episode focuses on a crime being investigated by Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle and his team.  It's been very interesting to learn not only more about WWII, but also about problems happening on the homefront due to the war.  And it has also included a perspective on how the US was viewed by the English . . . needless to say, not always the most positive!  It's not action-packed, but slow-paced and interesting in a very British sort of way ;-)

Each episode is about an hour and a half long, so it's more like watching a movie.  If you like history or England or anything about WWII, my guess is you'll enjoy this series.  The most recent season aired this spring on PBS; my library has all the seasons available and I'm guessing Blockbuster/Netflix might as well.  Here's a link to a site that provides more info about the series.
