favorite things: Netflix

True confessions: I have become a Netflix junkie.  I am much more likely to stream something from Netflix than to watch TV.  Given, I don't have cable.  But I do get all the major networks in HD via my rabbit ears.  However, there's really not much of anything on network TV that I find that compelling.  Thus my love of Netflix.  And all for $8 a month.  I'm pretty sure they could be charging a lot more.

I recently finished the last season of Friday Night Lights.  Love that show.  I think I want to be Tami Taylor.  (Sidebar: Connie Britton is going to be in a new show this fall called Nashville . . . the previews are intriguing, but I'm curious to see if the plot will be good enough to make it for more than one season.)

And my most recent find on Netflix: The Killing.  It kept coming up on the recommendations, but I ignored it because why would I want to watch a show that has that title?  But a coworker told me it was good, so I decided to check it out.  So I did and it's excellent.  Really good writing, great acting, love the character development, and the plot keeps twisting in intelligent ways.  It's an AMC show that apparently got canceled after the second season, but there are rumors that another network might pick it up.  I hope so!  [disclaimer: the title of the show is appropriate because the plot centers around a murder - and if I were a parent, I might find the plot to be too much.]
