a tradition unlike any other

I haven't lived in Augusta since 2001, which was the last time I attended the Masters.  So this year when I got the opportunity to go, I happily booked my flight to Augusta where I got to spend three great days at the tournament.  I told my mom that it was really an ideal vacation for me: my favorite weather (70s & sunny), I got to be outside in an absolutely gorgeous setting (one of my favorite things), I was able to spend good time with the fam, and I got to see some amazing golf.  Definitely a nice way to spend some time off!

We watched at several different holes over the course of the weekend, but my favorite seats were where we put our chairs on Sunday: the hill overlooking the 16th green, which also provides views of the 6th & 15th holes.  As to who I was cheering for, it was somewhat of a toss-up.  I really wanted to see someone win their first major - and there were a number of golfers in contention who fit that description (Westwood, Kim, Choi).  I honestly felt bad for Anthony Kim who had an incredible round on Sunday - and yet it just wasn't enough in light of Mickelson's beyond-incredible round that day!

Phil is definitely a favorite and this couldn't have come at a better time for their family.  This was the first tournament his wife and kids have attended with him in about a year because of his wife's cancer treatment.  The greatest post-Masters story was Phil's stop at the Krispy Kreme in Augusta on Monday morning with his kids - nothing like sporting your newly-won green jacket on a morning doughnut run :-)
