what makes a great teacher?

For all you teachers out there - whether it's your day job or something you enjoy doing outside of work - check out this interesting article in the latest edition of The Atlantic. A worthwhile read for those who teach in any capacity.

Not that many of you take me up on the invitation :), but comments are always welcome - I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hulie, I'm so excited to be invited to view your blog :) Thanks for letting us know about it. I could not agree with you more about Kite Runner (which I read for about 9 hours straight on the way back from Australia in 2007 because I could not put it down) and Three Cups of Tea, which I read this past fall. Amazing books. Thanks for all the recommendations- I am always looking for my next read. Great to hear from you!! -Ann

Ann - I've always got more book ideas! I'm about to start reading "The Help," which has come highly-recommended by a number of friends.

Kat - I totally agree. I found the predictors very interesting . . . as well as the differentiator that great teachers are always trying to get better. But how do you avoid burnout?
